Privacy
Last updated 28 October 2026
The short version: Miles has no accounts, no cookies, no ads and no analytics. Your trips, photos and videos stay on your device. We never see your email.
What stays on your device
- The trip you’re editing is saved in your browser’s local storage.
- Photos you add are resized and stored in your browser (IndexedDB). They are never uploaded.
- Videos are rendered and encoded in your browser. They are never uploaded.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of it.
Share links
A share link contains your trip itself in the address: the places, dates, ways you travelled and the title. Anyone with the link can see that trip. Our server reads the link to show the page and its preview image, and doesn’t store it. Photos are never part of a share link.
AI assistants and agents
If you ask an assistant such as Muse, Instinct, ChatGPT or Claude to make a Miles video, the assistant reads your email, not us. It sends Miles only the trip (places, dates, ways you travelled, a title), through a link, our API or our MCP server. We use that to build the links we send back and don’t store it. What the assistant does with your email is covered by that assistant’s own privacy policy.
Services we rely on
- Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap. Your browser loads them directly, so OpenFreeMap receives your IP address and the map areas being viewed.
- Hosting is on Railway. Like any web host, it processes request logs (IP address, the page address, browser type) to run the service. Because share links carry the trip in the address, those logs can include trip details.
- Flight-number lookup, when you use it, sends only the flight number to AeroDataBox to find its route.
Children
Miles isn’t directed at children under 13.
